In May 2011 Benchmark Recruit kick started an incentive to take place over a period of 6 months and the prize was a 3 night stay at a 5 * Luxury Hotel in Prague. What I needed to do was achieve my monthly targets and then the holiday would be booked in the New year for me and my partner. All very exciting I worked hard to bring in the vacancies and find good people.
Prague was an amazing city to visit. With its medieval history and gothic architecture I found there were many interesting sights to see to include the Old town square, astronomical clock, the Castle and the famous Charles Bridge to name a few.
We left Sheffield 3 am to get to the airport and flew Friday morning, arriving into Prague it was -7 degrees, which was fresh, and we took a taxi to the Art Deco Imperial Hotel. With no sleep Friday afternoon w ecrashed in the hotel and then woke up excited to explore where we were. We ended up on the other side of the bridge and hungry searching for dinner, and came across a lovely restaurant upon a barge on the River. We had a delicious meal and was funny to be asked if I wanted my lemonade hot or cold!
The next day we took a guided tour around the city to get out bearings and enjoyed the hot wines and hot chocolates in the outside cafes on the square with there heated lamps and fleeces. Even though it was minus temperatures we were well prepared with russian hats, gloves and layers so we never really felt the cold. I loved all the walking, was great exercise!
Highlights of the trip were a Meal at the Duplex restaurant which was really swanky and had a really good house dj, also the walk up to the tower which is where you could see all of Prague at such a great height.
We also did a ghost tour under the tower one evening which was spooky. 10 people or so were toured around the 11 underground rooms with 3 lanterns to keep us alight. The rooms uses to be used to hold people prisoner and torture. We were advised to take lots of pictures and to see what we find. We took one photo which genuinely had atleast 7 faces in it. After the tour we found a Czech Restaurant and had traditional Beef Goulash with Dumplings and a Beer. Really good, and it was undergroud with stuffed animals, including a massive Bear. They also had a band which played live music to us, and from realising my partner was greek even played up a greek love song just for us.
All in all Prague was a very enjoyable trip which was romantic, relaxing, interesting, and fun. Great for seeing new sights, shopping, eating out and exploring a different culture. It was also very rewarding to have won such an experience to a stunning city. I would recommend a vist to Prague, you will be pleasanlty surprised. Thanks very much Benchmark, Incentives are a great idea!
