The Sheffield City Region Combined Authority (SCRCA) and Benchmark were joined by a leading panel of business experts at the Advanced Manufacturing Park Technology Centre to launch of the ‘Sheffield City Region Skills Shortages and Hard to Fill Vacancies’ report on the 7th of February 2018.
This leading piece of research, conducted by Benchmark on behalf of SCRCA, involved surveying 500 job seekers and business leaders from across Sheffield City Region. The findings revealed a broad range of issues that contribute to hard to fill vacancies and skills shortages, from which Benchmark drew conclusions and derived a series of recommendations across six inter-connecting themes, some of which are simple and can be implemented in just a few hours while others require ongoing policy intervention.
SCRCA and Benchmark encourage the various stakeholders identified to take action – be that an employer visiting a local school or parents / carers accompanying their children to a careers fair.
