On a cold November night our quiz go-ers certainly bought their ‘A game’ to the BM Big Fat Charity Quiz this week – our second annual charity quiz.
It’s hard to out-quiz so many Sheffielders, and our business friends showed off their knowledge of the city and 2017. There were some challenging questions in there, and for those that were stumped we think they at least felt they learnt something!
As well as being quizzed on 2017, our guests from across Sheffield businesses dug deep and showed great generosity in the raffle and silent auction; as a result we have raised a magnificent £1,754.99 for our chosen charity Fareshare
Fareshare are focused on fighting hunger and tackling food waste; they collect surplus foods from leading supermarket chains and redistribute amongst other food using charities. We are proud to have supported Fareshare in 2017 with their national hiring requirements.
These vital funds will further assist the charity, and a huge thank you to all those who attended and donated.
Helen Davies, Project Manager at Fareshare commented: “On behalf of all of us at FareShare, I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone for your amazing support at the BM Big Fat Quiz night. Not only was it a fantastic evening supremely organised and hosted by our friends at Benchmark, but £1750 means we will be able to redistribute a further 7,000 meals to folk who never take for granted a meal on the table each night. We cannot thank you enough and are so delighted to have made Sheffield our home – what a welcome!”
Sticking with the food theme, we had the Real Junk Food Project catering for the event; the non-profit social enterprise saves food from being wasted and making it available to the people of Sheffield.
So that leads us on to the winners: it was a tight call after the Workstation and 3Squared ‘Table 7 – alias the Clever Station’ were first at the half time point. Teams quickly upped their game and UnLTD Magazine were declared winners of our quiz for the second year running (last year they were under the guise of Exposed Magazine).
1st place – Team UnLTD
2nd place went to the Workstation and 3Squared ‘Table 7 – alias the Clever Station’
In 3rd place was Puckator’s team ‘From Russia with Love’

So, if you missed out you have 12 months to get swatting for next years quiz and see if you can stop UnLTD/Exposed’s winning streak! Feel free to suggest charities you think would benefit from our quiz fundraising event as we are still considering options for our 2018 event by emailing our team.
A date for your diary is our Perfect Pairings Business Breakfast on Thursday, 15th February so make sure you book it in – more details soon.
If you were at the event, check out the team pictures below and see if you can spot yourself.
